Anita completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in the Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization program at McMaster University. She then pusued a Masters degree in Biochemistry in Dr. Jonathan Schertzer’s lab. Her work focused on the effect of gut microbiota-derived metabolites on inflammation. She hopes this research will help us understand the complex relationship between the gut microbiome and metabolic disease. Anita received a CIHR CGS-M scholarship in 2020-2021 and is currently enrolled in medical school at the University of Toronto.
Outside of her research, Anita has an extensive library of classic novels that she collects and enjoys reading. She would like to travel to P.E.I because the Anne of Green Gables books are her favourite.
