Han (HANnah) Fang

Han (Hannah) Fang completed her bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics and master’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology at Huazhong University of Science & Technology in Wuhan, China. Then she moved to the United States and completed her PhD degree in biomedical sciences at Auburn University under the supervision of Dr. Robert Judd. Her PhD project focused on the impact of niacin on adipose tissue inflammation, NAFLD, and gut microbiota composition in two common mouse strains. Following completion of her PhD, she joined Dr. Thomas Gettys’ lab at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana as a postdoctoral researcher to study the mechanisms of dietary methionine restriction and knowledge translation.

Currently, she is a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Schertzer here at McMaster University. She is interested in studying how post-biotics produced by gut microbiota interfere with host metabolism, specifically glucose and fat metabolism in the liver, muscle, and adipose tissue.
