Darryl Chan

Darryl completed his Bachelor of Science degree in the Biochemistry program at McMaster University. He completed his senior thesis in the Trigatti lab where he investigated the molecular mechanism by which lipoproteins protect macrophages against necroptosis. Darryl successfully defended his Master’s thesis with the Schertzer lab and has decided to continue to pursue a role here as a research assistant. Here, his research focused on a mechanistic exploration of the metabolic side effects associated with statin therapy, specifically relating to NLRP3 inflammasome activation. In his free time, Darryl enjoys playing basketball, binge-watching TV series, and exploring local restaurants and cafes.
