Brandyn Henriksbo

Brandyn was a researcher in the Dr. Schertzer lab and completed his PhD thesis in 2019. His project examined how a class of drugs known as statins can cause insulin resistance in adipose tissue through activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Understanding the changes statins cause to trigger inflammasome activation could lead to improvements in preventing statin-induced insulin resistance side effects. In his free time, he enjoys being active outside hiking and trail running with his dog, playing soccer, and ballroom dancing.
